Softball Game Preview: Ashley Screaming Eagle vs. Laney Buccaneers

Ashley is 2-8 against Laney since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Ashley Screaming Eagle are taking a road trip to take on the Laney Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. Laney took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Ashley, who comes in off a win.

While Ashley's victory against West Brunswick wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Ashley skirted past West Brunswick 2-1. The win was some much needed relief for the Screaming Eagle as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Ashley's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Elin Bentley, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Bentley hit this season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Laney was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Brunswick. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Buccaneers were not able to get on the board.

Ashley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Laney, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Ashley suffered a grim 16-3 defeat to Laney in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Ashley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
