Football Recap: Seymour Comes Up Short

Seymour had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it six. They lost 34-13 to the Bedford North Lawrence Stars. The Owls were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Stars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Seymour didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Alexx Milliken.

As for Bedford North Lawrence, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.0 points over those games.

A big part of Bedford North Lawrence's win came down to the chemistry between Dayson Kirby and his top target Jaden Gilbert. Kirby threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns while Gilbert gained 135 total yards and two touchdowns. A healthy portion of Kirby's aerial production (89 yards to be exact) went to Malakai Goodman, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seymour will host Brownstown Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves' defense has only allowed 9.2 points per game this season, so the Owls' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bedford North Lawrence, they will face off against Jennings County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
