Softball Recap: Bremen Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hillcrest

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bremen). They were the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over the Hillcrest Hawks on Monday. With that win, the Braves brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Nataly Castaneda was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Hannah Salkeld was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double.

Bremen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillcrest only posted an OBP of .500.

The victory made it two in a row for Bremen and bumps their season record up to 7-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Hillcrest, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-11.

Coincidentally, Bremen and Hillcrest will both be playing Thornton Fractional North the next time they take the field. The Braves will head out to face the Meteors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Hawks will host them at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
