Basketball Recap: Progreso Takes a Loss

Progreso fought the good fight in their overtime game against Raymondville on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raymondville Bearkats by a score of 41-39. The loss continues a trend for the Red Ants in their matchups with the Bearkats: they've now lost seven in a row.

Adaleigh Knight was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 18 boards for Raymondville. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which Knight has scored at least a third of Raymondville's points. Corrina Flores was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Progreso's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Raymondville, they pushed their record up to 13-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Progreso does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Raymondville, they will take on Lyford at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lyford will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Raymondville surely won't give up without a fight.
