Softball Recap: Hoover Cardinals vs. La Jolla Vikings
Hoover extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-18 in the process. They came up short against the La Jolla Vikings, falling 26-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-1 back in April.
Hoover saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilly Robles, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
As for La Jolla, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-13. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On La Jolla's side, the team relied heavily on Jerri Taylor, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, six runs, and two RBI. Those six stolen bases gave Taylor a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Pearl, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.
As of now, neither Hoover nor La Jolla have any future games scheduled.
