Basketball Recap: Ridgemont Takes a Loss

Ridgemont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 51-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Benjamin Logan Raiders. The Golden Gophers lost against the Raiders in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 50-11 score last time.

Despite the loss, Ridgemont saw an underclassman step up: freshman Riley Hites posted 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Hites is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Elsasser, who put up ten points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Ridgemont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive contests.

Ridgemont's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Benjamin Logan, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-16.

Ridgemont has already played their next game, a 40-20 loss against Hardin Northern on the 30th. As for Benjamin Logan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-29 victory against Triad on the 29th.
