Softball Recap: East Central Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

East Central and Vancleave squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but East Central had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-1. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Not much got past Abby Danis, who gave up just five hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Vancleave off the board. Danis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, East Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lizzy Kennedy, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

East Central's defeat dropped their record down to 27-7. As for Vancleave, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-18 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: East Central beat Vancleave by a score of 3-2 on Monday.
