Softball Recap: Dupont Manual Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for DuPont Manual, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Christian Academy-Louisville Centurions a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Crimsons have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Bella Newell was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Payton Russell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: DuPont Manual kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

DuPont Manual's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Christian Academy-Louisville, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DuPont Manual will square off against Jeffersonville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11 runs per game on average), something the Crimsons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Christian Academy-Louisville, they will head out to take on Spencer County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
