Softball Recap: Orchard View Cardinals vs. Fremont Packers
Orchard View extended their losing streak to 12 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They came up short against the Fremont Packers, falling 17-0. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 19-5 to the Packers when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Fremont, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-5-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by seven runs or more this season.
For Fremont's part, Kam Clark made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Clark has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Izabel Austin was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Geers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one triple.
While Orchard View had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
