Bryan Hadder made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Mcintosh, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Chase Roberson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
East Carteret was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Swansboro made sure to put some runs up on the board against Laney on Friday. Swansboro came out on top against Laney by a score of 11-6.
Swansboro let James Andrews and Nick Quinones run wild. Andrews scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Quinones scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Quinones has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Jenkins, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.
East Carteret's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Swansboro, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
East Carteret suffered a grim 18-10 defeat to Swansboro when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can East Carteret avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
