Capital Valley Conference recap November 5, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Christian Brothers, who defeated 141st ranked Casa Roble, 37-21. Chris Guillen threw for 170 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 65 yards in the win.
The Falcons scaled the state rankings by moving to 222 from 272 this week, the biggest jump in Capital Valley Conference. Christian Brothers was able to move up by beating the Rams 37-21.
Peyton Wilfley provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Casa Roble lost to George Petrissans' team. He completed 28 passes for 219 yards and also ran for 19 yards. Wilfley's key target this week was Angel Tenorio, who caught 7 passes for 72 yards.
Andreas Litton was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 121 yards on 10 carries as Bella Vista lost to the Falcons. Austin Harmer also contributed to the rushing game with 89 yards on the ground.
6-foot-0 quarterback Wilfley of the Rams is the league leader in passing yards this season with 2,284. He has also thrown 23 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Justin Holmes. The Oakmont star has 45 catches for 663 yards.
Rio Linda's Marcel Brown is a mere 52 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Brown has rushed for 948 yards on 110 carries so far this year.
As it stands, the Knights are in first, while the Cougars are in fifth.
Rio Linda added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Oakmont, 41-3. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
