Global Concepts gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They breezed past the International Prep at Grover Presidents to the tune of 94-21. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-8.
Leading Global Concepts to victory were Eric Davis Jr. and Jose Castro Jr.. Davis Jr. went 14-for-19 on his way to 31 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals, while Castro Jr. shot 56% from the field to rack up 23 points along with eight boards and seven steals. Those 56% shooting accuracy gave Castro Jr. a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Josiah Clay, who shot 41% from the field en route to 16 points and six steals.
Global Concepts smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 14 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Global Concepts will square off against City Honors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
