Softball Recap: Princeville's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Abingdon/Avon, Princeville was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Galva Wildcats. Surprisingly, this marked the Princes' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Claire Sutherland made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Those 15 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Sutherland wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kam Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those two hits gave Smith a new career-high.

The victory snapped Princeville's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-23 record. As for Galva, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Princeville beat the Wildcats by a score of 6-5 later that day.
