Basketball Recap: Woodland Park Comes Up Short

Woodland Park lost against Colorado Springs Christian back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Woodland Park Panthers took a 62-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colorado Springs Christian Lions. The Panthers were down 56-34 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Woodland Park still got an impressive performance from Zach Summeril, who went 11-for-17 to rack up 26 points. Those 26 points gave Summeril a new career-high. Breckten Wilson was another key player, going 5-for-6 on his way to 16 points.

It was another big night for Maximiliano Cota-Cordova, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds for Colorado Springs Christian. Thanks to that strong game, Cota-Cordova now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Salsbery, who went 5-for-10 en route to 12 points.

Woodland Park is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11. As for Colorado Springs Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers duke it out with the Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Colorado Springs Christian, they will square off against Ellicott at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Colorado Springs Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.
