Recap: Fike Demons vs. East Wake Warriors
The Fike Demons lost against the East Wake Warriors back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Fike took a 60-46 bruising from East Wake. Fike has struggled against East Wake recently, as their match on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Fike had strong showings from Dylan Skinner, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds, and William Monk, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. That was a full 34.8% of Fike's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, Fike smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their 12th loss (out of 17 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
East Wake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Fox, who scored 16 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamal Taybron, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Fike's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for East Wake, the victory was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-4.
Fike will be playing at home against Smithfield-Selma at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Fike is facing Smithfield-Selma at the right time seeing as Smithfield-Selma is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for East Wake, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against South Johnston at 7:45 p.m. One thing working in East Wake's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 13 matchups.
