Football Recap: University Prep Takes a Tough Playoff Loss + How To Watch

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact University Prep can now relate to. They took a 20-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gridley Bulldogs on Friday. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Isaiah Dewitt threw for 234 yards on 13 of 25 attempts. Daniel Wilson was his top target, picking up 110 receiving yards. On the ground, Tyson Wurzer rushed for 81 yards and one score.

Gridley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jace Griggs led the charge by rushing for 80 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries. Griggs' longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Eli Punzo, who rushed for 98 yards and one TD.

University Prep's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Gridley, the win keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

University Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gridley, they will face off against Pierce at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Bulldogs 9.5, the Bears 10.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
