Basketball Recap: Tradition Prep Comes Up Short

Tradition Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by the John Carroll Catholic Rams 52-14. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 597th, while the Rams are ranked 249th).

Leading John Carroll Catholic to victory were Samantha Rychter and Madi Burrowes. Rychter went 7 for 14 on her way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Burrowes went 6 of 11 en route to 12 points and seven steals. Burrowes is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Camryn Clive was another key player, putting up six points.

Tradition Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for John Carroll Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4.

Tradition Prep is taking a road trip to challenge Westwood at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. As for John Carroll Catholic, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 34-29 win against Cardinal Newman on the 16th.
