Basketball Game Preview: Islands Sharks vs. New Hampstead Phoenix

Islands hasn't had much luck against New Hampstead recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 2:30 p.m. without much rest, having both just played. Islands has given up an average of 50.4 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Islands saw some tournament action on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to Woodville-Tompkins. The defeat came about despite the Sharks having been up 20 in the third quarter.

Meanwhile, New Hampstead had to suffer through an 89-39 loss at the hands of Harlem. The game marked the Phoenix's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

New Hampstead's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Islands, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Islands ended up a good deal behind New Hampstead in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, losing 81-62. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
