Basketball Game Preview: Harnett Central Trojans vs. Terry Sanford Bulldogs

Harnett Central hasn't had much luck against Terry Sanford recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Harnett Central Trojans will venture away from home to face off against the Terry Sanford Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m.

Harnett Central is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Wednesday. They took a blow against Westover, falling 64-29. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 538th, while the Wolverines are ranked 152nd).

Meanwhile, Terry Sanford waltzed into their match on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They breezed past the Eagles to the tune of 78-14. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 74-5 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles cut but never quite recovered from.

Terry Sanford's win came from a few key players Harnett Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Taleah Meadows, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Those 15 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Amya Harrington, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards.

Terry Sanford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 31 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 56 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Terry Sanford's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.5 points over those games. As for Harnett Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-20.

Harnett Central was taken down by Terry Sanford 69-9 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Harnett Central was down 52-6.
