Recap: Lakewood Spartans vs. Leslie County Eagles
The Lakewood Spartans's game on Wednesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They walked away with a 65-54 win over Leslie County.
Lakewood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sumayah McIntosh out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was McIntosh's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Riana Callihan, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Lakewood pushed their record up to 7-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points per game. As for Leslie County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.
Lakewood won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Timber Creek at 6:25 p.m. on December 30th. Timber Creek has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Leslie County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Buckhorn at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
