The Hill Country Christian School of Austin Knights will head out on the road to take on the Vanguard College Prep Vikings at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Hill Country Christian School of Austin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Vanguard College Prep will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Hill Country Christian School of Austin extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over Veritas Academy. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
Wyatt Hsu looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Hill Country Christian School of Austin saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Young, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. What's more, Young posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Nick Cheij was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Hill Country Christian School of Austin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Veritas Academy only posted an OBP of .312.
Meanwhile, Vanguard College Prep lost 11-1 to Brazos Christian on Friday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Hill Country Christian School of Austin pushed their record up to 13-8-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Vanguard College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hill Country Christian School of Austin has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Vanguard College Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hill Country Christian School of Austin took their win against Vanguard College Prep when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
