Volleyball Recap: Cordova Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Cordova and Susitna Valley, and Susitna Valley kept the tradition alive. The Wolverines fell just short of the Rams by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Rams this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-0 defeat on Wednesday.

Cordova started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-17, 15-8.

Cordova has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-9 record this season. As for Susitna Valley, they pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Looking ahead, Cordova will challenge Ninilchik at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Susitna Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Tri-Valley on the 1st.
