St. Patrick had won four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 5-4 to make it five. They put the hurt on the Gautier Gators with a sharp 11-1 victory. Considering the Fighting Irish have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Peyton Parks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Parks was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Mackenzye Stapp was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Victoria Barhonovich, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
As for Gautier, they now have a losing record of 2-3. The loss continues a trend for them in their meetings with St. Patrick: they've now lost five in a row.
On Gautier's side, Madison Medina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and ten unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. Medina has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gautier saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Davis, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. St. Patrick will square off against Long Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bearcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.6 runs per game on average), something the Fighting Irish will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Gautier, they will venture away from home to face off against Pass Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
