Baseball Game Preview: Shenandoah Zeps vs. Monroe Central Seminoles

For the first time this season, Shenandoah will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Monroe Central Seminoles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shenandoah, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Monroe Central's (thus far) undefeated season.

Shenandoah came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Buckeye Trail by a score of 6-4 on Saturday.

Brody Brown made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Dakoda Rich was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Monroe Central made easy work of Magnolia on Tuesday and carried off a 14-6 win.

Ryder Muntz was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Mason Landefeld, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Shenandoah's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Monroe Central, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Shenandoah might still be hurting after the 16-2 defeat they got from Monroe Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Zeps avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
