Preview: Gabrielino Eagles vs. El Monte Lions

After three games on the road, Gabrielino is heading back home. They will take on The El Monte Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

While it was all tied up 20-20 at halftime, Gabrielino was not quite Rosemead's equal in the second half on Friday. Gabrielino took a 39-20 bruising from Rosemead.

El Monte fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past Mountain View with points to spare last Thursday, taking the game 34-20. That's two games straight that El Monte has won by exactly 14 points.

El Monte's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Alex Aleman, who threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes, and Noah Munoz, who picked up 140 receiving yards and two touchdowns. David Ibarra was another key contributor, rushing for 76 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.

Gabrielino's defeat was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 7.8 points per game. As for El Monte, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Things could have been worse for Gabrielino, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-41 loss to El Monte in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Will Gabrielino have more luck at home instead of on the road?
