Basketball Recap: Cypress Lake Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Cypress Lake can now relate to. They came up short against the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls on Wednesday, falling 59-38. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cowboys/Cowgirls apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

Jerrahd Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for LaBelle, going 11 of 16 on his way to 27 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Arrie Davis Jr., who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Cypress Lake has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for LaBelle, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-5.

Cypress Lake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for LaBelle, they will face off against Island Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. LaBelle knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Island Coast likes a good challenge.
