The Pascagoula Panthers will take on the Pearl River Central Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Pascagoula turned things around against Long Beach on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bearcats 47-14.
Sean Norvel produced another solid performance rushing for 110 yards and 12 touchdowns on only 15 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Amarie Jackson, who rushed for 164 yards and one TD while picking up 8.6 yards per carry.
Pascagoula's run defense was locked in: Long Beach could only muster 3.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Creevy Harness for the heroic effort on defense: he. Pascagoula didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged seven.

Pascagoula didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jermareay Pickett and Tylan Wilson. Pickett also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with nine. Pascagoula got some further help from Derrick Bonds: he forced two fumbles and made seven total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Pearl River Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 17-14 win over Gautier on Friday.
A big part of Pearl River Central's victory came down to the chemistry between Titus Feaster and his top target Kendall Morrison. Feaster rushed for 79 yards and one score while Morrison picked up 131 receiving yards and one touchdown. Morrison's longest reception was for an incredible 78 yards.
Pascagoula's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Pearl River Central, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Pascagoula has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 163.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pearl River Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 198 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Pascagoula against Pearl River Central in their previous matchup back in September of 2020, as the team secured a 37-8 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
