Baseball Recap: Choctawhatchee Wins Going Away Against Booker T. Washington

Choctawhatchee won the last time they faced Booker T. Washington and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Choctawhatchee Indians blew past the Booker T. Washington Wildcats 8-2. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

Carson Appleton tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Choctawhatchee's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Aaron Rowell was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. He has become a key player for Choctawhatchee: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gant Folendore, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Choctawhatchee is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. Booker T. Washington is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Choctawhatchee and Booker T. Washington could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Choctawhatchee will square off against Niceville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday down 200 places (221 vs. 21). Meanwhile, Booker T. Washington (ranked 398th) will meet Freeport (ranked 191st) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
