Baseball Game Preview: Antioch Sequoits vs. Huntley Red Raiders

The Antioch Sequoits are taking a road trip to square off against the Huntley Red Raiders at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Antioch will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

While Antioch's win against Round Lake wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Sequoits had just enough and edged out the Panthers 3-1.

Antioch got a great performance from Jack Majerowski as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Majerowski has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nathan Yeager, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

Meanwhile, Huntley was able to grind out a solid victory over Streamwood on Friday, taking the game 10-6. That's two games straight that the Red Raiders have won by exactly four runs.

Antioch pushed their record up to 21-10-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Huntley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-14.

Antioch was able to grind out a solid victory over Huntley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sequoits since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
