Basketball Recap: St. Benedict at Auburndale Takes a Loss

St. Benedict at Auburndale had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-7 to make it six. They came up short against the Lausanne Collegiate Lynx, falling 67-43. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Lynx are ranked 65th).

When it comes to explaining why St. Benedict at Auburndale lost, don't look at Tyler Wilson. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points. Damian Henderson II also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

As for Lausanne Collegiate, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points over those games.

Zuri McClure produced another solid effort dropping a double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds. The game was his eighth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Imir 'Trey' Harper, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 12 points and three steals.

St. Benedict at Auburndale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-49 defeat against Memphis Home Education Association on the 8th. As for Lausanne Collegiate, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-41 win against Piney Woods on the 6th.
