Softball Recap: Archbishop Mitty Finds Home Field Redemption Against St. Ignatius College Preparatory

There's no place like home for Archbishop Mitty, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They skirted past the St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats 2-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-0 back in April.

Kyleigh Mace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Archbishop Mitty's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa (Lou) Hahn, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Hahn has brought in this season.

Archbishop Mitty is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.

Archbishop Mitty wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-2 loss against Saint Francis on the 14th. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-1 victory against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory on the 12th.
