Basketball Recap: Legacy Triumphs

It was a proper cat-fight when Legacy duked it out with Port St. Lucie on Friday. The Lions managed a 58-54 victory over the Jaguars.

Legacy found their leader in sophomore Elijah Melton @Lijxhh, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Clint Sanchez @_ocsolo, who posted 15 points.

Despite the defeat, Port St. Lucie saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bryan Desgrottes dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Desgrottes. Another player making a difference was Isaac Sylvain, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards.

Legacy's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Port St. Lucie, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3.

Legacy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 67-38 victory against Lincoln Park Academy on the 9th. As for Port St. Lucie, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-42 defeat against South Fork on the 9th.
