Basketball Recap: Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs vs. Otis Bulldogs
After flying high against Prairie last Saturday, Haxtun came back down to earth. The Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs took a blow against the Otis Bulldogs on Tuesday, falling 68-39. The Fightin' Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.
When it comes to explaining why Haxtun lost, don't look at Ryland Wolff. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on ten points and 16 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Madden Larsen, who posted 11 points and five boards.
Even though they lost, Haxtun smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Otis only pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Leading Otis to victory were Charlie Kendrick and Grady Bechtle. Kendrick dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists, while Bechtle dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Bechtle is now averaging an impressive 8.3 boards per game. Cambric Klinzmann was another key player, going 6 of 7 on his way to 12 points and four steals.
Haxtun's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Otis, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.
