Volleyball Game Preview: Western Reserve Academy Pioneers vs. St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish

The Western Reserve Academy Pioneers will square off against the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

St. Vincent-St. Mary is facing Western Reserve Academy at the wrong time: Western Reserve Academy suffered their first home loss of the season on Wednesday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell 3-1 to the Explorers. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Western Reserve Academy ultimately came up short, they really made Hudson work, particularly in the third set. The final score came out to 25-21, 24-26, 26-24, 25-15.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Vincent-St. Mary, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past Brecksville-Broadview Heights 3-0 on Tuesday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-16, 25-9.

St. Vincent-St. Mary's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-5. As for Western Reserve Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Western Reserve Academy beat St. Vincent-St. Mary 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Fighting Irish have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
