Softball Game Preview: Del Norte Nighthawks vs. San Pasqual Golden Eagles

Del Norte has gone 9-1 against San Pasqual recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Nighthawks will venture away from home to challenge the Golden Eagles at 4:00 p.m. The last seven games Del Norte has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, Del Norte sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over San Marcos. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Nighthawks have posted against the Knights since May 10, 2022.

Lainey LLamas was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

San Pasqual let Rancho Bernardo stack four runs on them in the second inning on Friday but luckily San Pasqual prevailed anyway. The Golden Eagles walked away with a 7-4 win over the Broncos.

The team relied heavily on Brooklynn Clark, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Verece, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Del Norte's record now sits at 11-8-1. As for San Pasqual, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-7.

Del Norte skirted past San Pasqual 2-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Nighthawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
