Softball Game Preview: McDowell Titans vs. Ardrey Kell Knights

The McDowell Titans will challenge the Ardrey Kell Knights on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as McDowell comes in on six and Ardrey Kell on four.

McDowell is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Sun Valley get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Titans, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Ardrey Kell posted their closest victory since April 18, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Glenn, sneaking past 6-5.

Jenna Volturno spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tessa Sanchez-Barrios, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was her first of the season.

Ardrey Kell's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for McDowell, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.
