Sequoia Charter falls despite strong effort from Jack Roehl

Recap: Sequoia Charter Stallions vs. El Dorado Wolverines

The Sequoia Charter Stallions managed to keep up with the El Dorado Wolverines until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Sequoia Charter was the victim of a tough 56-33 defeat at the hands of El Dorado. While losing is never fun, Sequoia Charter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while El Dorado is ranked 71st).

When it comes to explaining why Sequoia Charter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jack Roehl. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points along with two steals and two blocks. Roehl continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Fabian Lozano was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

El Dorado's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rosly Ligocki, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ligocki has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Miles Lewis, who scored 15 points along with six assists and five steals.

Sequoia Charter has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for El Dorado, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sequoia Charter will take on ASU Prep Poly at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for El Dorado, they will head out on the road to face off against Ridgeview College Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
