Southeast fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Lakewood on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakewood Spartans. The Seminoles' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Southeast's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jakyrin Smith, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 20 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Byrd, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Southeast's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Lakewood, their record now sits at 8-6.

Southeast will square off against Cardinal Mooney at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Cardinal Mooney will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Southeast surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lakewood, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 64-54 loss against East Lake on the 11th.
