Basketball Game Preview: Stargate School Eagles vs. The Academy Wildcats

The Stargate School Eagles will face off against The Academy Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stargate School is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Stargate School had to suffer through a 67-27 loss at the hands of Forge Christian. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for The Academy on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Denver Christian out of the water with a 74-45 final score. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 28 points or more this season.

Stargate School better keep an eye on Trey Boychuk. He was instrumental in The Academy's win, going 9 for 14 en route to 21 points in addition to six steals and five assists. The game was Boychuk's third in a row with at least 21 points. Another player making a difference was Dominik Konarski, who made all 7 shots he took to post 14 points.

Stargate School's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for The Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-10.

Stargate School came up short against The Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 64-58. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Boychuk, who went 10 of 20 to rack up 28 points and seven steals.
