Softball Recap: Mabel-Canton Falls Short of Hayfield in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mabel-Canton can now relate to. They lost 10-2 to the Hayfield Vikings on Thursday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Cougars, who until this matchup were averaging 3.5 runs allowed.

Tylar Wenthold was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Wenthold was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Kira Snyder made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Mabel-Canton and nudges their season record down to 17-9. As for Hayfield, their win bumped their record up to 11-13.

As of now, neither Mabel-Canton nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
