The Bell Bulldogs will take on the Dixie County Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Bell easily dispatched Dixie County last Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Bell fell just short of Branford by a score of 6-4 on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Buccaneers: they've now lost eight in a row.
Alaina Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Gracelynd Joiner-Solis and Alexsandra Faught did some serious damage despite the final result: Joiner-Solis went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Faught scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that Faught snagged this season.
Meanwhile, Dixie County came into Thursday's matchup having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Hamilton County 14-2 on Thursday. The Bears not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 17th.
Dixie County also let their pitcher toss all six innings played and she was also dialed-in: Jaidyn Wilkerson gave up just two earned runs on six hits. What's more, Wilkerson gave up only two walks, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Hadlee Hines and Jaicee Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Hines went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Brown scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Brown a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Blevins, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
Dixie County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Dixie County's victory bumped their record up to 2-9. As for Bell, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Bell took their win against Dixie County when the teams last played last Thursday by a conclusive 11-0. Does Bell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dixie County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
