Softball Game Preview: De Anza Dons vs. Emery Spartans

De Anza has gone a perfect 4-0 against Emery recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Dons will face off against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. De Anza is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

On Wednesday, De Anza didn't have quite enough to beat Albany and fell 9-8. The Dons haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Mya Arroyo was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Arroyo was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Riana Everetts was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Aryana Robles was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Emery's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 18-6 to Hercules.

De Anza's record now sits at 3-10. As for Emery, their record is now 5-4.

Everything went De Anza's way against Emery when the teams last played back in April of 2022, as De Anza made off with a 20-7 victory. Will the Dons repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
