Friday just wasn't the day for Salem's offense. They fell just short of the Granville Golden Horde by a score of 2-0 on Friday. The Generals' defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

Stephen Yakubec was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

Salem's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Granville, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-2.
