Basketball Game Preview: Warren Warriors vs. Benton Zephyrs

Warren and Benton are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Warren Warriors will be playing at home against the Benton Zephyrs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The timing is sure in Warren's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Benton has been banged up by 16 consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

On Friday, Warren beat Stockton 55-48. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Blackhawks are ranked 633rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Benton had to suffer through a 84-39 loss at the hands of River Ridge.

Warren is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Benton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

Warren took their win against Benton when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a conclusive 66-40. Does Warren have another victory up their sleeve, or will Benton turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
