Basketball Game Preview: Cox Mill Chargers vs. South Point Red Raiders

The Cox Mill Chargers will challenge the South Point Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cox Mill's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches.

Cox Mill is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since February 22nd last Monday. They took a blow against Chambers, falling 100-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (62), the Chargers still had to take the loss.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Teeshon Smith, who posted 15 points. His evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sherod McCmormick, who went 5 of 11 en route to 17 points.

Meanwhile, South Point's game on Saturday was all tied up 16-16 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They skirted past Metrolina Christian Academy 41-38. The 41-point effort marked the Red Raiders' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

South Point's win came from a few key players Cox Mill will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cayden Rumph, who put up 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of OB Lowery Jr., who had seven points.

South Point has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Cox Mill, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
