Basketball Recap: Mercedes Find Success

Mercedes won the last time they faced Porter, and Anissa Sanchez did her part to make sure it happened again. The Mercedes Tigers took down the Porter Cowboys 32-15 on Tuesday thanks in part to Sanchez, who posted 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mercedes' points.

Madilyn Noriega was another key player, putting up ten points. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in blocks (two).

Mercedes' victory bumped their record up to 13-16. As for Porter, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-21.

Mercedes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 36-16 defeat against Harlingen South on the 17th. Porter has also already played their next contest (against Donna North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
