Basketball Recap: Luke Swanson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cardinal Ritter College Prep

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Centralia, Champaign Central was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Cardinal Ritter College Prep Lions by a score of 58-49.

Champaign Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Swanson out in front who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Aidyn Beck, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Champaign Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Cardinal Ritter College Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Champaign Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-53 defeat against Alton on the 28th. As for Cardinal Ritter College Prep, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Granite City at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
