Crossroads Christian pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-57 to Cape Fear Christian Academy. The loss put an end to Crossroads Christian's undefeated start to the season.
Despite their loss, Crossroads Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ben Gladieux, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. The contest was Gladieux's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Chris Bell was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five steals.
Even though they lost, Crossroads Christian were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cape Fear Christian Academy only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lee Christian pushed their score all the way to 66 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cape Fear Christian Academy.
Crossroads Christian's loss ended a 20-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-1. As for Lee Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Everything came up roses for Crossroads Christian against Lee Christian in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 98-68 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Lee Christian's Sawyer Elkins, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
