Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Watterson Eagles vs. Hilliard Darby Panthers

The Bishop Watterson Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Hilliard Darby Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bishop Watterson can't be too worried about heading out to take on Hilliard Darby: they just beat St. Charles at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Bishop Watterson took down St. Charles 58-42 on Friday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Cardinals are ranked 326th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Hilliard Darby entered their tilt with Olentangy Berlin on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They slipped by the Bears 51-50.

Hilliard Darby pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Bishop Watterson, their record is now 10-2.

Bishop Watterson beat Hilliard Darby 52-45 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Watterson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
