The West Jefferson Roughriders will face off against the West Liberty-Salem Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Jefferson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 40 points per game this season.

West Jefferson is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Mechanicsburg on Friday. The Roughriders took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. The contest marked the Roughriders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

West Jefferson's defeat came about despite a quality game from Austin Buescher, who threw for 235 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 73 yards.

Even if they lost, West Jefferson's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Brett Bogenrife refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for West Liberty-Salem, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past Triad 42-7 on Friday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 24 points or more this season.

West Liberty-Salem has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.5 points on average over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, West Jefferson fell to 7-1.

West Jefferson was taken down by West Liberty-Salem 43-6 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Roughriders were down 30-0.
